# How to add, test and assign proxies to your WhatsApp numbers Source: https://wassuply.com/docs/proxies/ Updated: 2026-10-30 · Wassuply 1.0.4 for Windows and macOS > Wassuply can route each WhatsApp number through its own proxy so your numbers do not share one IP address. You add SOCKS5, SOCKS4, HTTP or HTTPS proxies on the Proxies screen, one at a time or in bulk, then assign them to numbers by hand or with Auto-Assign. Test checks that a proxy works; Verify checks that each number's WhatsApp session really uses it. In the app: Sidebar → Manage → Proxies ## Key facts - Wassuply supports four proxy types: SOCKS5 (recommended, default port 1080), SOCKS4 (port 1080), HTTP (port 3128) and HTTPS (port 3128). - A proxy Test in Wassuply times out after 10 seconds and marks the proxy Working, with its exit IP, or Dead. - Verify in Wassuply compares each assigned number's exit IP with your own direct IP and reports a leak if they are the same. - Wassuply's Auto-Assign gives each number one proxy in round-robin order, cycling through the list when you have more numbers than proxies. - Editing a proxy in Wassuply applies the change to its numbers' live sessions straight away, and deleting a proxy switches those numbers to a direct connection. - Wassuply does not rotate proxies: each number keeps the one proxy you assign until you change it. ## Why give each WhatsApp number its own proxy? A proxy gives a number its own IP address, so several numbers running on one computer do not all reach WhatsApp from the same internet connection. Proxies are optional. A number without one uses your own connection, shown as **Direct connection (no proxy)**. Wassuply applies a number's proxy to that number's session before WhatsApp Web opens, answers the proxy's username and password prompt for you, and stops WhatsApp Web's call traffic from going around the proxy. Each number's proxy is separate from the others, alongside its own session and browser fingerprint (see [WhatsApp accounts](https://wassuply.com/docs/whatsapp-accounts/)). The Proxies screen recommends residential or mobile (4G/LTE) proxies and one proxy per number, and warns that datacenter IPs are frequently blocked by WhatsApp. A proxy lowers the chance of your numbers being linked through one IP. It does not remove the other common ban causes, such as sending too early or too fast, covered in [Sending safety](https://wassuply.com/docs/sending-safety/). ## Which proxy types and formats does Wassuply support? Wassuply supports SOCKS5, SOCKS4, HTTP and HTTPS proxies, with or without a username and password. | Protocol | Default port | Notes | | --- | --- | --- | | SOCKS5 | 1080 | Shown as recommended and selected by default. | | SOCKS4 | 1080 | Supported. | | HTTP | 3128 | Supported. | | HTTPS | 3128 | Supported. | The port must be between 1 and 65535. **Label** and **Host / IP** are required; **Username** and **Password** are optional. When you change the protocol, the port switches to that protocol's default unless you have typed your own. ### Bulk formats - `host:port`, for example `192.168.1.100:3128` - `host:port:username:password` (a password may contain colons) - `socks5://username:password@host:port`, and the same with `socks4://`, `http://` or `https://` Put one proxy per line. Lines starting with # are ignored, and lines without a protocol use the **Default Protocol** you choose. Imported proxies are labelled Proxy 1, Proxy 2 and so on. ## How do you add a proxy and assign it to numbers? Add the proxy on the Proxies screen, tick the numbers that should use it, save, then click Verify. **How to add a proxy to a WhatsApp number in Wassuply** 1. **Open the Proxies screen**: Click **Proxies** under **Manage** in the sidebar. The screen is titled Proxy Manager. 2. **Click Add Proxy**: Use **Add Proxy** at the top right, or **Add First Proxy** if the list is empty. 3. **Enter the details**: Fill in **Label**, **Protocol**, **Port** and **Host / IP**, plus **Username** and **Password** if your provider gave you them. 4. **Tick the numbers**: Under **Assign to Accounts**, tick each number that should use this proxy. You can leave it unassigned for now. 5. **Save**: Click **Add Proxy**. The proxy is applied to the ticked numbers straight away. 6. **Verify**: Click **Verify** on the proxy's row and check every number shows as going through the proxy before you send. You can also set a number's proxy from the account side: open **Account Settings** for the number, go to the **Proxy** tab, choose from **Assigned Proxy** and click **Save Changes**. The list marks each proxy as working, dead or untested. ### Bulk Import and Auto-Assign **Bulk Import** opens two tabs. **Paste Text** takes the formats above and shows how many lines are valid before you import. **CSV / Excel** lets you map columns to **Host / IP** and **Port** (required) and **Username**, **Password**, **Protocol** and **Label** (optional), with a preview; rows with a missing host or bad port are skipped. The import only accepts .csv files, so save a spreadsheet as CSV first. **Auto-Assign** appears once you have proxies and accounts. It gives each number one proxy in round-robin order, cycling through the list if you have more numbers than proxies. By default it only fills numbers that have no proxy; tick **Overwrite existing assignments** to reassign every number. ## What is the difference between Test and Verify? Test checks the proxy on its own; Verify checks that each assigned number's WhatsApp session actually goes through it. | Button | What it checks | Result | | --- | --- | --- | | **Test** | Connects through the proxy in a temporary session and asks a public IP lookup service for the exit IP. Gives up after 10 seconds. | "Proxy working" with the IP and response time, and the status Working; or an error and the status Dead. | | **Verify** | For every number assigned to the proxy, applies it to that number's own session, reads the exit IP and compares it with your direct IP. | Per number: going through the proxy (green), a leak where your real IP is exposed (red), or unreachable, which marks the proxy Dead. | Each proxy row shows a status dot: green Working with the last exit IP, red Dead, or grey Untested. The cards at the top count **Total**, **Working**, **Dead** and **Assigned** proxies. Editing the host, port, protocol or credentials resets a proxy to Untested. > **Tip:** A Verify leak means WhatsApp for that number would connect from your real IP. Do not send from it until Verify shows the number going through the proxy. ## What happens if a proxy stops working? The number cannot reach WhatsApp through it, and Wassuply does not switch that number to your own connection or to another proxy on its own, so sending from it fails until you fix or change the proxy. Failed sends count towards the number's [risk score](https://wassuply.com/docs/health-and-risk/), and a campaign with a failure-rate auto-pause set will pause once failures reach that level. Campaigns only send from numbers whose status is Connected, so a number that drops to Disconnected is skipped while other numbers in the campaign carry on. - Click **Test** to confirm the proxy is down. It is marked Dead. - Check the host, port, protocol and credentials with your provider, then edit the proxy. Changes apply to the numbers' live sessions at once, with no restart. - Or assign a different proxy, from the proxy's edit window or the number's **Proxy** tab. - Run **Verify** again before you resume sending. > **Caution:** Deleting a proxy switches every number assigned to it to a direct connection on your real IP. The confirmation tells you how many numbers are affected. ## Frequently asked questions ### Do I need a proxy to use Wassuply? No. Proxies are optional, and a number without one uses your own connection. They matter most when you run several numbers on one computer. ### Can several numbers share one proxy? Yes, you can tick several numbers for one proxy, and Auto-Assign reuses proxies when you have more numbers than proxies. The app recommends one proxy per number. ### Does Wassuply rotate proxies? No. Each number uses the proxy you assign until you change it. Auto-Assign is a one-off spread, not a rotation schedule. ### My proxy passes Test but Verify shows a leak. What now? Test only checks the proxy itself. A leak means that number's session still exits on your real IP, so open the proxy, check its protocol and details, save, and Verify again before sending. ### Can I import proxies from an Excel file? Save the sheet as a .csv file first. The CSV / Excel tab only imports CSV files. ### What kind of proxy works best with WhatsApp? The app recommends residential or mobile 4G/LTE proxies, using SOCKS5, and warns that datacenter IPs are frequently blocked by WhatsApp. ### Where are my proxy passwords kept? With the proxy on your computer. Wassuply uses them to sign in to your proxy, and Test and Verify contact a public IP lookup service through it to read the exit IP. Wassuply is independent software. It is not made, endorsed or sponsored by WhatsApp or Meta.
