How Wassuply works: your computer, the cloud and WhatsApp Web

Updated Wassuply 1.0.4 for Windows and macOS 7 min read

Quick answer

Wassuply is a desktop app that runs each of your WhatsApp numbers in its own WhatsApp Web session on your computer, with its own browser fingerprint and optional proxy. Campaigns, contacts, message history and logs are stored on your computer. Sign-in, licence checks, Warm-up Pods, crash reports and the optional encrypted session backup use Wassuply's cloud.

Key facts

  • Wassuply sends through WhatsApp Web sessions inside the desktop app, so it needs no WhatsApp Business API, no Meta approval, no message templates and no per-message fees.
  • Each number in Wassuply gets its own browser session, its own browser fingerprint (on by default for new numbers) and, optionally, its own SOCKS5, SOCKS4, HTTP or HTTPS proxy.
  • Wassuply keeps up to 5 WhatsApp sessions loaded in memory at once by default (Warm Pool Size, 1 to 20) and reopens the others when they are needed.
  • Wassuply's licence check is a signed plan token tied to one computer; it is refreshed every 30 minutes and keeps the app working offline for up to 14 days.
  • Before every text message, Wassuply checks that WhatsApp's message box holds exactly your message; if it does not, nothing is sent and the contact is marked failed.
  • Your AI and ElevenLabs keys are stored on your computer and sent straight to the provider, not through Wassuply's servers.

What is Wassuply, in plain words?#

Wassuply is a desktop app for Windows and Mac that opens WhatsApp Web once for each of your numbers and drives those sessions for warm-up and campaigns. It is not a cloud service that holds your numbers: the WhatsApp sessions, your contacts and your campaigns live on your computer, and Wassuply's cloud handles your account, your plan and the features that need a server.

Because it works through WhatsApp Web, you link a number exactly as you would link WhatsApp Web, by scanning a QR code from Linked devices on your phone. Normal WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business numbers both work. Wassuply is independent software and is not the official WhatsApp Business Platform.

What runs and is stored on your computer?#

Everything that touches your numbers and your contacts runs and is stored on your computer. That includes:

  • WhatsApp sessions: one separate browser session per number, holding its WhatsApp Web login.
  • Your work: accounts, contacts, lists, templates, campaigns, sequences, warm-up sessions and their history.
  • Replies: incoming replies captured for opt-out detection, kept for 365 days.
  • Activity logs: cleared after 7 days by default and capped at the newest 10,000 entries.
  • Settings and keys: your Settings, your AI provider key and your ElevenLabs key.
  • All sending: pacing, daily caps, blackout hours and Smart Send decisions are made on your computer.

On a Mac, the app's sign-in session is stored encrypted using your macOS login Keychain. Removing a number with Remove Account deletes its session from your computer.

What uses Wassuply's cloud?#

Wassuply's cloud is used for your account, your plan and a small set of features that need a server. Contacts, campaigns and message history are not uploaded for any of these.

FeatureWhat is sentWhen
Sign-in and accountYour email, password check, name and the phone number from sign-upWhen you sign up, sign in or edit your profile
Licence and devicesThis computer's device ID, system (Windows or macOS) and app versionAt sign-in, a heartbeat every 60 seconds, a plan refresh every 30 minutes
Warm-up PodsThe numbers you put in a pod, whether they are connected, and each turn's resultAbout every 25 seconds while the app runs
Encrypted session backupA number's WhatsApp Web login, encrypted before uploadOnly when you or support start a backup
Crash and error reportsError codes and messages, with phone-number-like digits removedWhen something fails
Announcements and updatesA request for the latest notice or versionHourly for notices; every 4 hours for Windows updates

Pod partners are other Wassuply users, so the numbers you add to a pod are shared with the numbers they pair with. See Warm-up Network.

Tip: While you are signed in, Wassuply support can ask your app to upload an encrypted backup of your sessions or to send its 200 most recent activity log lines, to help with a problem. Nothing else is collected this way.

How are your numbers kept separate?#

Every number runs in its own browser session with its own cookies and storage, so numbers never share a login and do not have to be logged out to switch. On top of that, each number can have:

  • Its own browser fingerprint: screen size, graphics card strings, canvas and audio noise, CPU cores, timezone and a browser version that tracks the real engine. The operating system in the fingerprint always matches your computer, so a Mac never claims to be Windows.
  • Its own proxy: SOCKS5 (recommended), SOCKS4, HTTP or HTTPS. Call traffic is kept on the proxy too, and the proxy check flags any number that is connecting from your real IP. See Proxies.
  • Its own limits: a per-number daily cap, falling back to the global cap of 80 messages a day.

Without proxies, all your numbers share your internet connection's IP address. Running many numbers also costs memory, which is why only the 5 most recently used sessions stay loaded by default. Raise Warm Pool Size in Settings if a warm-up or campaign uses more numbers than that.

How does sending through WhatsApp Web work?#

Wassuply sends a message by opening the recipient's chat in that number's WhatsApp Web session, filling the message box, checking it, and pressing send. For cold outreach it opens chats through WhatsApp's own New chat panel, which reaches numbers you have never saved or messaged.

  • Checked before sending: the message box must contain exactly your text. If it is empty or different after two tries, Wassuply sends nothing and logs an error.
  • One job per number: a number that is sending a campaign is not used for warm-up at the same time, and a scheduled campaign waits until its numbers are free.
  • Skips instead of guessing: if the right chat cannot be opened, that contact is skipped rather than risking a message to the wrong chat.
  • Paced: random gaps, batches and caps apply. See Sending safety.

Wassuply records that a message was sent. It does not confirm delivery on its own: by default, delivered and read ticks are only read when you run a receipt check on a campaign.

What happens when you go offline or close the app?#

If your internet drops, Wassuply keeps your plan for up to 14 days from its last successful check, then pauses sending until it can check again. When the connection returns, it reloads every WhatsApp session about 5 seconds later so they reconnect.

  • Closing on Windows: Wassuply disconnects each session cleanly (you see Disconnecting accounts safely...). With Close button hides to tray on, it keeps running in the tray instead.
  • Closing on a Mac: the red button hides the window and campaigns keep running. Quit with Cmd+Q.
  • Next launch: interrupted campaigns resume automatically about 15 seconds after start. Warm-up sessions only resume if Auto-resume warmup sessions on launch is on.
  • Signed out or deauthorised: sending locks as soon as the app learns of it (within about a minute for a deauthorised device), even mid-campaign.

How can you limit what Wassuply shows and stores?#

Use Settings → Privacy to control what appears on screen and what is recorded. These switches change display and storage only; they do not affect sending.

Stealth Mode
Stops activity logging, hides phone numbers and blocks exports while it is on. It also keeps Wassuply out of the Windows taskbar or the Mac Dock.
Blur phone numbers
Shows numbers as ••••••1234 in the interface.
Disable all data export
Blocks CSV and file exports of contacts, logs and lists.
Clear Activity Logs
Deletes the activity history on this computer.

Each number's WhatsApp view also has its own Privacy Mode controls for the WhatsApp Web screen itself. See WhatsApp accounts.

Frequently asked questions#

Does Wassuply use the WhatsApp Business API?

No. Wassuply works through WhatsApp Web sessions, so there are no templates to approve and no per-message fees. If you need high-volume messaging to opted-in customers with a green tick, the official WhatsApp Business Platform is the right tool.

Are my contacts uploaded to Wassuply's servers?

No. Contacts, campaigns, templates and message history are stored on your computer. The cloud holds your account, plan, devices, Warm-up Pod data and any session backups you make.

Does Wassuply read my incoming messages?

Yes, to capture replies. By default it checks for new replies every 3 minutes so it can stop sending to anyone who replies with an opt-out word such as stop or unsubscribe. Replies are stored on your computer.

Is the session backup end-to-end encrypted?

The backup is encrypted with AES-256 before it leaves your computer, using a key that Wassuply's cloud keeps for your account. It is optional, and nothing is backed up unless you or support start it.

Does each number get its own IP address?

Only if you give it a proxy. Without proxies, every number connects from your own internet connection.

Can Wassuply work without the internet?

WhatsApp itself needs the internet, so nothing sends offline. Your plan stays valid for up to 14 days without a connection, so a short outage does not lock the app.

Why does the Mac app ask for the microphone or camera?

Only when WhatsApp Web needs them: the microphone to record a voice message and the camera to take a photo to send.
