How to add, link and manage WhatsApp accounts

Updated Wassuply 1.0.4 for Windows and macOS 9 min read

Quick answer

Wassuply runs each WhatsApp number as an account with its own browser session, its own browser fingerprint and an optional proxy. You add a number with Add Account and link it by scanning a QR code from Linked devices on your phone. Accounts show as Connected, Connecting, Disconnected or Banned, can be sorted into coloured groups, and can be backed up to an encrypted cloud vault to move computers.

Key facts

  • Every account added to Wassuply gets its own browser session and a unique browser fingerprint, and fingerprinting is switched on by default.
  • Wassuply re-checks every loaded WhatsApp account every 15 seconds and shows it as Connected, Connecting, Disconnected or Banned.
  • The number of WhatsApp accounts you can add to Wassuply is set by your plan, and Add Account is blocked once the plan's limit is reached.
  • Wassuply keeps up to 5 WhatsApp sessions loaded at the same time by default, adjustable from 1 to 20 with Warm Pool Size in Settings → Sending.
  • The optional Wassuply cloud backup encrypts a number's logged-in session with AES-256 on your computer before uploading it, so you can restore it on another computer.
  • Wassuply shows a warning badge on any account that has not been seen connected for 12 days or more, because idle linked sessions can expire.
  • Wassuply will not remove an account while it is sending a campaign, running a warm-up session or working on a Group Builder job.

What is a WhatsApp account in Wassuply?#

An account in Wassuply is one WhatsApp number, linked to the app as a device and running WhatsApp Web inside its own window. All your numbers run side by side, so you never log out of one to use another. Wassuply works with normal WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business app numbers; it does not use the WhatsApp Business API.

Your numbers are listed under Accounts in the sidebar, with a count such as 3/5 showing how many are connected, and a small figure next to each name for messages sent today. Click an account to open its live WhatsApp view. How many numbers you can add depends on your plan (see pricing): at the limit, Add Account shows "Account limit reached" and stops, and an expired plan makes the app read-only.

What do the account statuses mean?#

The status tells you whether WhatsApp Web is logged in and usable for that number. Wassuply reads it from the WhatsApp Web page itself, re-checking every loaded account every 15 seconds.

StatusSidebar iconWhat it meansWhat to do
ConnectedFilled green dotWhatsApp Web has loaded the chat list. The number can send.Nothing.
ConnectingPulsing amber dotThe view is opening, or WhatsApp Web is showing a QR code and waiting to be linked.Scan the QR code from Linked devices.
DisconnectedHollow grey ringThe session is not loaded, or WhatsApp Web did not reach the chat list.Click the account to open it. If a QR code appears, link it again.
BannedRed blocked iconWhatsApp Web is showing WhatsApp's ban screen for this number.Follow Ban recovery.

The Accounts screen totals these in cards and filters the list with the All, Connected, Disconnected and Banned tabs. When an account turns Banned, Wassuply shows an alert that stays until you close it, plus a desktop notification if notifications are on. If an account has not been seen connected for 12 days or more, its row shows an amber badge with the idle days, red from 13 days: open it so WhatsApp Web can reconnect before the linked session expires.

How do you rename an account or change its settings?#

Right-click the account in the sidebar and choose Edit Account to change its Account Name and Group (folder), then click Save.

The right-click menu also has View WhatsApp, Account Settings, Transfer to Another PC (Transfer to Another Computer on a Mac) and Remove Account. On the Accounts screen, hover a row for its Open, settings and bin icons, or click the small pencil next to the number to edit it. Account Settings has three tabs, saved with Save Changes:

General
Account Name, WhatsApp Number, Group and Daily Message Limit, the per-number daily cap explained in Sending safety.
Fingerprint
The browser identity this number presents to WhatsApp Web, covered below.
Proxy
Assigned Proxy, which stays Direct connection (no proxy) until you choose one. See Proxies.

How do you organise accounts into groups?#

Account groups are coloured folders that keep related numbers together in the sidebar and on the Accounts screen. They are not WhatsApp groups; for those, see WhatsApp group tools.

  • Create: open Groups under Manage, click New Group, enter a Group Name, pick one of 8 colours under Color, add optional Notes and click Save.
  • Assign: choose the group when you add the account, in Edit Account or Account Settings, or drag the account's row onto a folder on the Accounts screen.
  • Rename: double-click the group name in the sidebar and press Enter.
  • Reorder: hover a group or account in the sidebar and use the up and down arrows, or drag rows on the Accounts screen.
  • Delete: use the bin icon on the Groups screen. The accounts are kept and move to No Group.

How does Wassuply keep each number separate?#

Each account runs in its own browser session with its own cookies and storage, its own browser fingerprint and, if you assign one, its own proxy, so your numbers do not appear to WhatsApp as one browser on one connection.

  • Separate session: each number's WhatsApp login is stored on your computer in a folder used only by that account.
  • Browser fingerprint: generated when you add the account and on by default, shown by the FP badge. In Account Settings → Fingerprint you can switch Fingerprint Spoofing off, click Regenerate, or set values such as User Agent, Timezone, Screen Size, CPU Cores and RAM. Keep the same Window ID (noise seed) so the fingerprint stays consistent across reloads.
  • Optional proxy: a proxy per number stops your numbers sharing one IP address. Numbers with one show a Proxy badge.
  • One job at a time: a number already sending a campaign, running warm-up or working on a Group Builder job is refused by other jobs and greyed out in the campaign wizard.

Wassuply keeps a limited number of sessions loaded at once, set by Warm Pool Size in Settings → Sending (default 5, from 1 to 20). Other accounts load when you open them or a job needs them, and the least recently used idle session closes to make room. See How Wassuply works.

How do you back up a number and move it to a new computer?#

Back the number up to your encrypted cloud vault on the old computer, then restore it on the new one while signed in to the same Wassuply account.

  1. Back up the number

Right-click the account and choose Transfer to Another PC (Transfer to Another Computer on a Mac), or click Account at the bottom of the sidebar and press Back up next to the number.

  2. Let the upload finish

The logged-in session is encrypted with AES-256 on your computer and uploaded to Wassuply's cloud. The account's view closes briefly while it is copied; reopen it afterwards.

  3. Sign in on the new computer

Install Wassuply and sign in with the same account. If your device seats are full, deauthorise the old computer first, as explained in Plans, licences and devices.

  4. Restore from the Cloud vault

Click Account, find the number under Cloud vault and click Restore. It is added as a new account with its name, number, fingerprint and privacy settings.

  5. Open the restored account

Click it in the sidebar. If WhatsApp Web shows a QR code instead of your chats, link it again from your phone.

A backup needs a linked session; an account that was never connected stops with "No WhatsApp session found". Backing up the same account again replaces its previous backup, and the bin icon in the vault deletes one permanently.

Tip: The backup is optional. Campaigns, contacts and message history stay on your computer; only a session you choose to back up is stored in Wassuply's cloud. Once the number works on the new computer, remove it from the old one so only one computer drives it.

How do you remove a number?#

Right-click the account in the sidebar and choose Remove Account, or click the bin icon on its row on the Accounts screen, then confirm.

Removing deletes the number's WhatsApp session from your computer and takes it out of campaigns, warm-up sessions, Group Builder jobs and sequences. Wassuply refuses while the number is busy with one of those jobs and names the job to stop first. To remove several, tick their rows and click Delete.

Caution: Removal cannot be undone, so back the number up first if you may want it again. It does not sign the device out on WhatsApp's side: also remove it under Linked devices on your phone. Any cloud backup stays in your vault until you delete it.

Frequently asked questions#

Can I use WhatsApp Business app numbers in Wassuply?

Yes. Wassuply drives both normal WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business app numbers through WhatsApp Web, linked from Linked devices on the phone. It does not use the WhatsApp Business API.

Why does my account keep showing Disconnected?

Wassuply only checks accounts whose session is loaded, so click the account to open it. If a QR code appears, the link has ended and you need to scan again; if a proxy is assigned, run Verify on the Proxies screen.

Is an account group the same as a WhatsApp group?

No. Account groups are folders for organising your own numbers inside Wassuply. WhatsApp groups are handled by Group Manager, Group Builder and Group Extractor.

Can I turn off the browser fingerprint for one number?

Yes. Open Account Settings for that account, go to the Fingerprint tab, switch Fingerprint Spoofing off and click Save Changes. It is on by default for every new account.

Do I need to scan the QR code again after moving to a new PC?

The restore brings back the logged-in session, so the number is meant to open without a new scan. If WhatsApp Web shows a QR code anyway, link it again from your phone.

Where is my WhatsApp login stored?

On your computer, in a separate folder for each account. It only leaves your computer if you back it up to the cloud vault, and it is encrypted before upload.
