How to use Wassuply's WhatsApp group tools
Quick answer
Wassuply has three WhatsApp group tools under Tools in the sidebar. Group Builder adds a list of numbers to a new or existing group one person at a time, in paced batches with long gaps. Group Extractor exports a group's members (number and name) to CSV or Contacts. Group Manager (Beta) sends welcome DMs, schedules text posts and flags keywords in groups you track.

Key facts
- Wassuply Group Builder's defaults are batches of 5 adds, a random 45 to 90 seconds between adds and a random 10 to 20 minutes between batches.
- Wassuply Group Builder accepts a batch size of 1 to 50, a delay of 10 to 3,600 seconds between adds and a batch gap of 1 to 720 minutes.
- Wassuply Group Builder only keeps numbers with 8 to 15 digits and removes duplicates before a job starts.
- Wassuply Group Extractor saves a group's members to a CSV file with two columns, phone and name, or adds them to Contacts.
- Wassuply Group Extractor keeps every extraction in a History list, so a past member list can be viewed, downloaded or added to Contacts later.
- Wassuply Group Manager (Beta) checks tracked groups for new members every 15 minutes and checks scheduled posts and keywords every 2 minutes.
- Wassuply never lets a Group Builder job, a group extraction, a campaign and warm-up drive the same WhatsApp number at the same time.
What are Wassuply's WhatsApp group tools?#
Wassuply has three tools for real WhatsApp groups, all under Tools in the sidebar. Each works through the WhatsApp session of one of your linked numbers, so that number must be in the group, or create it.
| Tool | What it does | Does it send anything? |
|---|---|---|
| Group Builder | Adds a list of numbers to a new or existing group, one at a time, in paced batches | It adds members, and sends a group invite only if you allow it |
| Group Extractor | Exports a group's members, number and name | No, it is read-only |
| Group Manager (Beta) | Welcome DMs, scheduled text posts and keyword flags for groups you track | Welcome DMs and your scheduled posts |
Tip: Manage → Groups is something else: folders for organising your numbers in the sidebar, covered in WhatsApp accounts.
How do I add numbers to a WhatsApp group with Group Builder?#
Open Tools → Group Builder, choose a number, pick a new or existing group, paste your list and start the job. It runs in the background and you follow it in the Jobs list below the form.
Choose the number
In Add from account, pick the number that will create the group, or that can add members to the existing one.
Choose the group
Select Create new group and type a name (up to 90 characters), or Add to existing group and pick it after Load my groups, or type its exact name. Wassuply checks it opened the right group before adding anyone.
Paste the numbers
In Numbers to add, enter one person per line: a number, or a name and a number separated by a comma, semicolon or tab, with the country code. The counter shows valid numbers, duplicates removed and invalid lines skipped.
Set the pacing
Keep the defaults or change the batch size, delays and batch gaps. The estimated time updates as you type.
Start the job
Press Create group & start adding or Start adding. The form clears and the job's activity log opens.
What pacing settings does Group Builder use?#
Group Builder adds one person, waits a random delay, adds the next, and after each batch waits a longer random gap. The defaults are deliberately slow; slower is safer.
| Setting | Default | Allowed range | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Batch size | 5 | 1 to 50 | Adds before a long gap |
| Delay min / max (sec) | 45 / 90 | 10 to 3,600 | Random wait between two adds |
| Batch gap min / max (min) | 10 / 20 | 1 to 720 | Random wait between batches |
| Send an invite if a number can't be added | Off | On or off | Accept or decline WhatsApp's invite offer |
The estimate adds about 12 seconds of work to each add's average delay, plus the gaps. With the defaults, 100 numbers take about 7 hours.
Some people's privacy settings block direct adds, so WhatsApp offers to send a group invite instead. With the invite toggle off, Wassuply declines and marks the number failed; with it on, Wassuply accepts and counts the number as invited. No invite is sent while the toggle is off.
What happens while a Group Builder job runs?#
A job works through its list in order and records one outcome per number: added, invited or failed. Its card shows the counts, a progress bar and a log you open with Show activity.
- Pause and Resume. Pause keeps the numbers still waiting; Resume carries on from the next one, so nobody is added twice.
- App restarts. A running job resumes by itself after the next launch, unless the number is busy by then, in which case it stays paused.
- Blackout hours. The job waits and checks again every minute. See sending safety.
- Busy numbers. If the number is running a campaign, warm-up, another Group Builder job or an extraction, the job waits.
- Risk score. If the number's ban-risk score is too high under Smart Send protection, the job pauses itself. See Health & Risk.
- No active plan. The job holds and carries on once the plan is active again.
- New groups. WhatsApp will not create an empty group, so the first number creates it. After 5 failed tries the job pauses with an error.
A finished job shows a Group Builder complete notification if Campaign completed notifications are on in Settings. The computer is kept awake while a job runs. The bin icon deletes a job with its progress and log.
How do I export the members of a WhatsApp group?#
Open Tools → Group Extractor (the screen is titled Group Member Extractor), choose a number that is in the group, pick the group and press Extract members. It only reads the member list and never sends anything.
Choose the number
In Account (must be in the group), pick a number that belongs to the group.
Pick the group
Press Load to list its groups (archived ones are marked), or type the group's exact name.
Extract
Press Extract members. A banner shows the live count while Wassuply scrolls the member list.
Use the result
Filter the table, then press Copy numbers, Add to Contacts or Export CSV.
WhatsApp shows a number for members who are not saved contacts on that phone and a name for saved contacts. Wassuply reads both and fills in a saved contact's number when WhatsApp's own data has it; otherwise the row says number not shown.
| Action | What you get |
|---|---|
| Export CSV | A file such as Sales_Team_members.csv with the columns phone and name. Accented and non-Latin names open correctly in Excel. |
| Add to Contacts | New entries in Broadcasts → Contacts. Existing numbers and members without a visible number are skipped. |
| Copy numbers | Every number, one per line, ready for Group Builder or a campaign. |
Where do I find past runs, and do the tools keep their state?#
Group Builder and Group Extractor keep their state when you switch screens, for example to a number's WhatsApp tab, and both keep past work.
- Group Extractor History lists your latest 200 runs. View shows a run's members again, CSV downloads them, Contacts adds them and the bin deletes the run.
- Group Builder Jobs lists every job with live counters. Each job's log keeps filling while you are away and holds its latest 500 lines.
- Inputs stay put. Group Builder's list, group name and pacing are still there when you come back, and a running extraction keeps counting.
- Interrupted extractions. If Wassuply closes mid-extraction, the run is marked failed. Run it again.
Group Manager saves your tracked groups, messages, posts and keywords, but an expanded group or a half-typed post is cleared when you leave the screen.
What does Group Manager (Beta) do?#
Group Manager (Beta) watches the groups you track and does three jobs for each: a welcome DM to new members, scheduled text posts and keyword flags. Press Track a Group, pick a connected number and one of its groups, add an optional welcome message and press Track Group.
- Welcome DM
- Sent privately to each new member. Groups are checked every 15 minutes; the first check only records who is already there. DMs are spaced 4 to 9 seconds apart, count toward the number's daily cap, wait for a later check when the cap is reached, and skip opted-out or blacklisted numbers. Leave it empty to turn it off.
- Schedule a post (text only)
- Pick a date and time; due posts are checked every 2 minutes and posts to several groups are spaced 20 to 60 seconds apart. If two tracked groups on one number share a name, the post is held back and marked failed.
- Moderation keywords
- Flags captured group messages that contain a keyword, in a banner with Dismiss, plus a notification if Group keyword flagged is on in Settings. Nothing is deleted and nobody is removed.
- Sync now and Stop tracking
- The refresh icon checks a group now. The bin stops tracking it and deletes its posts and keywords.
How do I use group tools without putting numbers at risk?#
Treat adding people to groups as the riskiest thing you do on WhatsApp: Group Builder's own warning calls it the single highest ban-risk action. Slow pacing lowers that risk but does not remove it.
Caution: Never bulk-add from a brand-new number. Warm it up first (see account warm-up), keep batches small and gaps long, and only add people who expect to hear from you.
- Check the number on the Health & Risk screen before a large job.
- While a Group Builder job runs on a number, campaigns and warm-up will not start on that number.
- Group Extractor is read-only but still opens and scrolls the group, so do not run it over and over on the same group.
- Welcome DMs skip opted-out and blacklisted numbers; see opt-outs and blacklist.
Frequently asked questions#
Why did Group Builder mark a number as failed?
Usually WhatsApp's member search did not show the number, the person only accepts invites while the invite toggle is off, or the group could not be opened under its exact name. The job's log and Tools → Activity Logs show each attempt.
Is it safe to use Group Builder on a new number?
No. The app warns against bulk-adding from a brand-new number. Warm the number up first and keep the default pacing or slower.
Can I run two Group Builder jobs at the same time?
Yes, on different numbers. A second job on the same number will not start until the first is paused or finished.
Why are some extracted members missing a phone number?
WhatsApp shows saved contacts by name. If WhatsApp's data has no number for them, the row shows number not shown and Add to Contacts skips it.
What is the difference between Group Extractor and Contact Export?
Group Extractor reads the members of one group. Contact Export reads the individual chats in a number's chat list; see utilities.
Can I reuse an extracted list in a campaign?
Yes. Press Add to Contacts, then build a list from them in Contacts, lists and segments.
